Beginning Teacher Boot Camp

Would you like to have a head start your first year of teaching?

Would you like to start your first year with specific and real-world plans for building relationships with students, establishing and maintaining behavioral expectations, and implementing classroom procedures and routines?

Would you like to work together and network with others who will be entering their first year of teaching?

The Illinois New Teacher Collaborative invites you to the INTC Beginning Teacher Boot Camp. This event is for University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign teacher education graduates only (all grade levels and content areas) who will begin their first year of teaching in Illinois in the fall of 2016.

Registration will open April 1.

INTC is housed in the Office of Teacher Education, in the College of Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

A two-day event with expert facilitators, small and large group sessions, networking opportunities, and more.

Who:
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign teacher education graduates (all grade levels and content areas) beginning their first year of full-time teaching in Fall 2016
Why:
  • An opportunity for new teachers to:
    • Bridge the gap between preservice courses and what you need to know and do to start teaching successfully
    • Learn by doing and collaborating with others starting their teaching careers
    • Exit with practical and workable plans for the fall
    • Hear a motivational speaker
  • Cost:
    Registration is $25. The Boot Camp is low-cost thanks to the generous sponsorship of the State Farm Companies Foundation. Space is limited.

    Registration opens April 1, 2016. The conference includes one night's stay at the I Hotel or another nearby facility should the room block fill up (a $130 value), one breakfast, two lunches, a reception, and a chance at winning several door prizes, including an iPad mini.

    Attendees are responsible for the cost of their own transportation and any additional personal expenses incurred.

    Professional Development Hours credit available. The Beginning Teacher Boot Camp and the Beginning Teacher Conference are different events.
