Activity or Strategy Description:
5th and 6th grade band. Once you have a roster of students signed up to participate in instrumental music, take the time to email (or discuss in person) the roster to the teachers who had the students last year. Obtain helpful information like: students with special needs, who works well together, who should not be in the same group together or sit by each other, behavioral patterns, etc. This will help you develop appropriate lesson groups and seating arrangements to benefit student understanding and overall growth. Always be willing to ask for advice and help from other teachers.
