Preparation:
Establish rules for discussions. Move 4-5 desks into a small circle. Then move all the other desks to make an outer circle.

30minutes
Activity or Strategy Description:
This is a student-led discussion maintained by a small group. The rest of the class is not allowed to comment until after the discussion. During the discussion, the students must take notes on what the small group is saying. The teacher will sit on the outside, grading the relevancy of comments, use of text, expanding off of each other's ideas, bringing in new ideas, and involving everybody in the discussion. Once they are done, the whole class may respond.
