Optional printed half sheet with the question and space for students to write their responses.
Activity or Strategy Description:
At the beginning of class each day introduce the HPJ question. The question should be high-level, open-ended and cover the central theme of the day's lesson. Students should be able to respond to the question by the end of the lesson. In the last 5 minutes of class students write their responses and turn them in as an exit slip. This is a great review/reflection tool for students and a great way to informally assess student learning.
