Activity or Strategy Description:
Every Monday morning, students receive a poem. In a shared reading format, the class reads the poem. Students may underline sight words, rhyming words, or challenging words. To monitor comprehension, students may illustrate the poem after reading. Students should take home their poetry folders home to read with an adult as homework, and returned the next day with the log signed. At the end of the school year, students will have a book of poems.
