Materials or Resources:
Weekly reflections handout (1 per student)
Preparation:
Clear expectations that weekly reflections are used for me (the teacher) to make the learning as effective as possible and for the students to reflect on the methods that best supported their learning, and the methods that least supported their learning.
Activity Length:
5minutes
Activity or Strategy Description:
Each week, the students filled out a weekly reflection form. The weekly reflection form prompts the students to tell which learning experience during the week best supported their learning, the learning experience that least supported their learning, and an explanation for each. The students were also asked to goal set or tell something in class about which they were excited. The feedback was very helpful for me to constantly refine my practice to best support the students' learning, bolstered my differentiation and individualized instruction, and facilitated my students' reflection and metacognition.
