Activity or Strategy Description:
I have a designated section in the back of my room where I place the "While you were gone..." binders. The students know that this is where they go if they have missed class. In the binder (I have one for level I Spanish and another for level II), I place the "while you were gone..." template that I fill out at the end of each day, outlining the day's lesson and the handouts from the day. I keep the binders in a designated location and the students are responsible for getting their own work. After a few weeks the students really got into the routine of going back to the binders without prompting. I keep the handouts and templates in the binder until the end of the unit and switch them out.
