South Cook Intermediate Service Center #4

The South Cook Intermediate Service Center has entered into a partnership with 11 districts which will be conducted in two phases. Phase I, the initial professional development phase, will use the Induction for the 21st Century (ICE 21) training for mentors. Beginning teachers will receive a two-day intensive training in issues that contribute to the success of a beginning teacher in the first year, such as classroom management, classroom set up that is conducive to teaching and learning, and especially the establishment of procedures and routines. Phase II will focus on continued support for both the beginning teacher and the mentor with professional development directed at improving the beginning teacher’s practice with a particular focus on the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards (IPTS).
