Summary The Illinois Association of Deans of Public Colleges of Education surveys all first-year teachers that graduated with an education degree from twelve public colleges in the State of Illinois. For the past five years, Illinois State University has participated in this survey. The three components first-year teachers identified as the most valuable were: collaboration, understanding of differentiation and addressing different student needs, and access to support either through their mentors, veteran teachers, and/or administrators.
