Activity or Strategy Description:
This suggestion from my coach helped me a lot--to give me a procedures to follow with students for dismissal, which happens when students are in line at the door. I stood in the center of my room with a full view of the door and both lines (boys and girls) and told students "I'm happy to dismiss you when your lines are single file and silent." When the lines were single file and silent, I would walk towards the door. If students talked or stepped out of line, I would stop or take a step back away from the door. If students stayed silent in line as I walked ot the door, I would open the door and dismiss the lines,
