Activity or Strategy Description:
Have students research different stocks and choose a minimum of ten to invest in to diversify their portfolios. Students could buy and sell as they want to, but need 10 stocks at all times. After a couple weeks, the students will find news articles on five companies in which they own stock. They will then summarize the news article and determine the impact it will have on the stock price. At the end of the game, the students will write a two-page paper describing the basics of the stock market and their method in the game. This can be expanded into a quarter-long or semester-long project.
