What have you found to be strengths and weaknesses of using the Danielson Framework as part of your induction program?

For those of you familiar with Danielson's framework, what advice would you give to others on how to use that framework as part of an induction program?

Teaching the framework in

Teaching the framework in "bite size" pieces over the first few year is an effective way to have new teachers learn and interact with the framework. I am part of a team that is creating and facilitating a series of 10 Danielson trainings in my district. The first is and overview of the framework, the next 8 are spent going deeper into each Domain (for example one forum focuses on "Communication for Engagement and only includes 3a, 3b and 3c), and the 10th forum will focus on setting professional goals using the framework and the common themes. The forums are a mix of learning and using the Framework within the context of the teachers practice. Our administration has noted the differences in the new teachers' knowledge of the framework in comparison to past years' teachers knowledge who have not attended these forums.

strength

A strength as a newer teacher is the ability to focus on one or two domains rather than the entire program. Classroom environment (domain 2) is a great way for a first year teacher to have a observational focus.

Danielson's Framework is so

Danielson's Framework is so comprehensive that I have my teachers use the framework as a self-assessment to guage their progress along the danielson continuum. (Obviously-I use it for my guided observations too.)
