Confidentiality explained for mentors-proteges

Attached is a written statement about confidentiality as it pertains to the mentor-protege relationship. This written statement is provided to all stakeholders (mentors, beginning teachers, administrators,...) during initial training sessions in the Quincy Public Schools program. The first and second year of teaching can bring many challenges and concerns for the teacher. Teacher mentors are selected to offer assistance and guidance to allow for a smooth transition for the protégé. The relationship that develops between the mentor and protégé is critical to the success of the program. This relationship must be developed in an ethical manner where both fairness and confidentiality are important to effective communication. In no way is this relationship to be used in the formal evaluation process.
